Location

At Bill Sutton's home in Templar Street (hence the name), Avonside, Christchurch.

History

The Press started in the late 1960's with the purchase of an Albion and the assistance of Leo Bensemann and John Van der Fluit. Printing was done in the late 60's, the 70's and 80's.

Equipment

An Albion press plus mono type in at least Times and Baskerville faces. After Bill's death the albion was gifted to the Ferrymead Printing Society. Ferrymead have provided it on loan to Peter Vangioni for use at the Kowhai Press

Publications

The Scott Memorial Windows, Christchurch Cathedral: introduction, report & comments, together with a few notes concerning the nature and qualities of stained glass, historic & modern.  Sutton, W.A., Templar Press, Christchurch, 1983. 54p with illustrations. An edition of 20 copies.

The press was also used to print other catalogue's for W. A. Sutton's art exhibitions plus ephemera such as invitations to friends, wine labels, and a recipe for pumpkin soup.
