The Melbourne Museum of Printing is a working and teaching museum of typography and printing located at Footscray, Victoria. Specialising in retention of letterpress, both the equipment and the knowledge - but not ignoring recent developments, many of which are already history. Their web site covers a lot of the history of the collection and has numerous photographs.
At present the museum is not open every day of the week so check their website for details. Want top get involved? Volunteers are wanted.
Penrith
The Penrith Museum of Printng is situated in New South Wales, not far inland from Sydney. The museum's mission is to: " collect and display printing machinery, equipment and any other pieces of associated printing paraphernalia, so that present and future generations might see first-hand how the printed word used to be produced".
The museum is interested in hearing from past and present printing industry workers, as well as any other person who is interested in joining and or making contact with the museum.
The museum is open to the general public for viewing and demonstrations. Opening hours are restricted and listed on the website.
